Logical vs. Physical Procedures
Logical errors occur when logical components of a hard drive are damaged and the drive cannot be mounted. Logical damage might be the result of file system corruption, virus infection, hard drive formatting, accidental deletion of system files, operating system malfunction and so forth. Recovery in these cases is possible through a Logical Procedure.
Physical damage takes place when the internal components of the hard drive no longer work properly. It could occur due to read/write head failure, spindle motor failure, actuator arm damage, logic board damage, and disk controller failure.
